Mob Malaria – Watch video
On World Malaria Day 2014, hundreds of students in Cambridge, MA (USA), Beijing (China), Changsha (China) and Harare (Zimbabwe) took part in an audio-guided flash mob called Mob Malaria. Co-produced by Harvard College freshmen Stephen Turban and Lily Zhang, the Mob Malaria campaign rested on the idea that awareness is the first step toward change, and fun is the first step toward awareness.
If we can do incredible and ridiculous things for fun, why can’t we do them for good?
By performing silly actions under the guidance of the pre-recorded audio file, participants demonstrated that malaria is important to them and that greater awareness can be achieved through fun.
